GAMEPLAY:
If you ever played Gradius, you know what to expect, the classic of shoot'em ups. More forgiving than Gradius but still can get frustrating.
GRAPHICS:
Salamander and Life Force are on par with Gradius II, the sequel brings some nice detail and colours without resorting to redundant 3D gimmicks.
SOUND:
Everyone knows "Power of Anger". And Salamander 2 has one of the best tunes in the series.
LONGEVITY:
Three challenging games and the 'loop bonus' are enough to keep you glued for hours on end. Unless you rage-quit which is pretty likely.
ORIGINALITY:
The vertical/horizontal thing, surprisingly, isn't very common, but aside from that it's obvious this is a Gradius spin-off.
OVERALL:
Out of all Konami compilations, this is the most worthy one.
